You might be a babywearer if . . .

You might be a baby wearer if....

•    You feel naked if a small person isn't strapped to you in some fashion

•    SSC, FWCC, RS and other letters put together seemingly at random make perfect sense to you

  • You think to yourself "oh this baby is going to sleep or else" as you strap the nap-opposed child to you ... and you win, every time.
Picture

•    You get really good at catching things dropped over your shoulder

•    Feeling drool run down your neck or down your chest is just part of going shopping

Picture
•    You pick out yours and your child's outfits by how “wearable” it makes them

•    You may have coordinated special outfits with your carrier (or purchased a carrier for a special occasion...that black and red ring sling has been just begging for a holiday party)

•    You wonder why strangers would offer to help you get your child off your back...you put him there!
  • You have been accused of smuggling babies in your clothes
Picture
•    You stand strategically out of reach of fun to grab items at the store (gift card racks, hair clips, gum, magazines, etc).
Picture
  • You know that, when faced with a toddler tantrum, you can strap them to you and tame the beast....or at least keep them contained without it actually looking like you have tied them up.  It even looks pretty!
Picture
•    You have been asked if you have “invented that” by strangers admiring your carrier

•    Even your children are too lazy to actually hold their stuffed animals!

Picture
  • Your cell phone is full of weird self portraits of your shoulder, hair, and part of your baby.
Picture

•    You think passing food to a person riding on your back, and knowing it will get in your hair, is just a matter of course

•    You think wearing an empty carrier could double as a fashion accessory

•    You get comments like "interesting scarf" when you realize you're still wearing the wrap after you've taken your baby out.

Picture
•    You think nothing of swinging a baby / toddler over your head to attach them to your back (and baby / toddler thinks it's fun)

•    You wonder why no one is looking at you funny when you're not wearing your child

•    You  know these days will pass too quickly and you're enjoying every moment of baby/toddler snuggles while you still can.

- You see parents struggling to push a stroller while holding baby or chasing toddler and think "maybe I should go grab my spare out of the car for them..."
- ^ You have a spare in the car. And know I'm not talking about a tire. lol

- Your photographer looks at you sideways when you tell her you want "family pictures with the baby tied up."

- You become the beacon for public meetups. (ex. "Just look for the lady with a kid on her back.")

Such a pleasure to see two people truly enjoying the ups and downs of parenting!
Your children are so blessed to have you both!

Thank you! We have a great time with our boys and I am amazed at how much of a young man my oldest is becoming and he's not yet 4. They grow so quickly!

When you and your 4 year old get matching carriers for Christmas

When you get asked in public if you "made that yourself" referring to a 150$ Didytai (i wish i did!)

Older ladies stop to tell you that "your carrier thing is so fancy, and they didn't have those things when they were having babies." Every time I have to fight the urge to tell them that actually wearing your baby has been around for thousands of years.

OMG LOL...I totally fight the same urge. I completely forgot about that when writing the list. I also think to myself how nice it is that people can't (usually) just poke their heads into my baby's face when out and about.

When you assume the term "Crunchy Mama" refers to the dried spit-up on your shoulders and back.

You have had to explain how a wrap is different than "just any ole fabric I can buy at the store."

When you have to fight the urge to correct the positioning of someone else wearing their baby, or explain to them why forward facing shouldn't be done!

your co-worker stops you to point out that you sway back and forth when you walk.

Some of those actually made me laugh out loud - thanks!
What about when you get stopped by an African mumma who is so stoked to see a white woman wearing her baby in a similar fashion to what she is used to, and then proceeds to demonstrate the 'original' torso carry :)
And when you don't buy beads because they'll go with your outfit but because you need something to distract your baby from the fistfuls of hair he finds it so amusing to pull whilst on your back!

If your favorite youtube videos are made by someone with wrap in their name.

You go shopping for shirts or dresses, or anything really, and think "That would make a pretty wrap".

If you have ever hidden or misrepresented the price of your wrap from your husband because he just wouldn't understand.

You pick the carrier for special occasions and then shop for an outfit to match.

Your older child wants to learn to wrap your baby and has her own list of wraps that she wants.
