Babywearing International of Southern Maryland is having a membership drive for the month of June! Our group is a non-profit organization that holds monthly meetings to teach parents and caregivers how to safely and comfortably wear their babies in carriers such as slings, wraps, mei tais, and soft structured carriers. Membership is not required to attend meetings, but is required for using our wonderful and quickly growing lending library.
The Babywearing International Membership fee is $30. Typically half of this fee goes to Babywearing International to fund group insurance, education and outreach. The other half of the fee stays with our local group. We use this money (typically $15 per member who joins) to purchase carriers for the lending library.
However, for the month of June, BWI is giving us a great deal. They are allowing us to keep 100% of the membership fees of anyone who joins in June! This means that we can purchase new carriers twice as fast as usual!
So, if you have been thinking of joining Babywearing International, but haven't yet, please do so in June!
We also have something in it for you! We just opened a brand new CafePress store as an ongoing fundraiser (20% of all purchases will go toward building our lending library). It's got lots of cute items with the BWI logo, our local crab logo, and cute slogans on them!

On July 1st, we're going to enter every current member (including those joining before June) into a raffle for a free item from the cafe press shop.
Here's how it works:
- If we get 5 new members in June, one lucky person will win a bumper sticker (winner's choice which)
- If we get 10 new members in June, two people will get a prize. One will win a bumper sticker and the second name drawn will win a mug.
- If we get 20 new members in June, we'll have three winners. One will win a bumper sticker. One will win a mug. The third name drawn will win a baby or toddler t-shirt or onsie!
- If we get 30 new members in June, we'll have four winners. One will win a bumper sticker. One will win a mug. One will win a baby shirt. The fourth name drawn will win an adult t-shirt.
- If we get 40 new members in June, we'll have the four winners above. PLUS, we'll give every single member a BWI of Southern Maryland Bumper Magnet (to be picked up at the meeting of your choice).
If you've been thinking of joining in June, there are still two meetings on our calendar. June 15th at 12:30pm in Waldorf and June 18th at 9:30 am in Prince Frederick.
